DDM

Duty Dispatch Manager - the person in charge of the team on shift. If there is a major incident, they would take charge and implement the specific procedures.

BBA

Born Before Arrival. It means exactly what it says - a baby that is so desperate to enter this world is born before the ambulance crew arrives!

AMPDS

AMPDS is the system used by ambulance services across the world, and organises calls in order of priority. For example, if there was one ambulance and two people need it, it's not organised on a first-come-first-served basis. If a 65 year old man with chest pain needs it, and so does a 7 year old girl with a suspected broken leg, the AMPDS system would prioritise it so that the 65 year old gets it.
